The other day, Francis was assigned snacks for her class. Fortunately, at her school they have access to a full kitchen and encourage kids to bring a recipe to share rather than a pre-made snack. We decided on “Butterfly Biscuits.” I saw something like this in a kids recipe book I flipped through at Barnes and Noble, but of course, I don’t own it and have no idea what the name of it was (sorry author, where ever you are…). So, without an actual recipe, we decided to test drive them at home before sending her to school. It also allowed her a chance to get comfortable with her recipe. 😉
Here’s what we used:
- regular small pretzels
- pretzel sticks
- canned biscuits
- mini pepperoni (optional)
The instructions are pretty obvious. shape the dough into butterfly bodies, push the pretzels in and the pepperonis on top (they didn’t stick that great) and bake according to biscuit directions.
Pretty simple and pretty darn cute.
Francis loved them and her teacher did too!
Did I mention, they also tasted really great too. I mean, buttery biscuits with salty pretzels…what’s not to like?
