Prentice Women’s Hospital
Chicago, IL
Sally started having contractions at 8:00 this morning. I jumped out of bed, took a quick shower, and started throwing the bags in the car. We woke up Francis (who, thankfully, decided to sleep in this morning), put her in the car, and took her over the the Brown’s. Becca gave us a little cereal, and then threw us out when Sally was grimacing at a contraction. We’re glad she did, because by the time we arrived at the hospital, Sally was in some real pain. After triage on the 4th floor, they immediately took her up to a birthing room on the 5th. She was dilated seven centimeters. We put on the brakes with an epidural, and we’ve been waiting here ever since.
At about 3:20, the doctor broke Sally’s water, resulting in a 1.5 foot geyser. It was something to see. So that’s where we stand. We expect to have a little boy within the hour. Everything looks good so far.
