Best Friends In The Back Seat

Car Trip

Here’s a photo of Francis and Scout together in the back seat on our way home from Michigan this weekend. They are such a cute pair. I looked back and was talking to Francis when she pointed at Scout and said “Sleepy Scout” and then proceeded to lay her blanket on him. Probably an hour later, after Scout’s nap, Francis was eating goldfish and decided to share some with Scout. She would eat one and then she’d hold one in her hand and spin it around like an airplane before giving it to Scout. She thought it was the funniest thing she’d ever seen in her life. My guess is that she probably peed her pants she was laughing so hard, but I can’t prove it.

Kristen - That's so funny! I love it! Francis is so big! Have you been reading her stories about what it will be like to be a big sister?

Sally - I don't have any big sis books, but we do talk about it all the time. If you ask her what's in mommy's belly she says "baby butter!"

Our godson Charlie!

Charles H. Donoghue

This weekend we had the pleasure of becoming Charlie Donoghue’s official godparents. We drove up to Birmingham, MI and enjoyed a relaxing weekend with our pals, Dave and Laura. It was so so nice to get away from home and be with good friends. Not to mention enjoy the benefits of a newer home: central A/C and a nice big tub! ๐Ÿ™‚ Being 35 weeks pregnant I really miss that at our house. Charlie was adorable and couldn’t be a more easy going baby. He truly appears to be a model baby boy – let’s hope I can have one of those. He’s almost 4 months old and he’s sleeping through the night and taking good naps during the day. He’s in a perpetual good mood – full of smiles and happy grunts. We are so honored to have been asked to be his godparents and hope we can live up to the challenge of being a mentor and friend to this little guy as he grows up. We love you little buddy.

Happy Father’s Day Matt!

Fathers Day Present

Francis made Matt a mosaic garden stone for Father’s Day and boy did she have fun. The plan was originally to have her put her hand print in it, but she just couldn’t resist grabbing a handful of cement everytime I tried placing her hand flat to get an impression. So, we opted for a full mosaic. ๐Ÿ™‚
She is growing up so fast. I know, I know… I say that in almost every post these days, but it’s true. And I can’t believe in a month we’re going to be a family of FOUR. I can’t hardly believe I’m grown up enough for that. Big sigh…
So big Daddy Matt, Happy Father’s day. Know that you are loved truly and deeply today. Your little Francis adores you and so do I. Thank you for being such a sweet and patient Pop and for being so supportive to me as a Mommy. I hope you had a great day today…

Zoo with the Browns

Francis loves going to the Zoo. When we pulled into the parking lot this morning, she yelled gleefully, “zoo! monkey! otter!” Seriously.

She’s loved otters ever since we watched the Baby Einstein Animals video over at the Browns’ house, so it’s fitting that Francis shared the otters at Brookfield with Eoin and Becca Brown today.

Happy 32nd Birthday Best Friend!

Today is Matt’s birthday.

When I stop and really think about what today means I get a little teary eyed. It’s not about cake and ice cream…frankly in my prego state these days everyday is about cake and ice cream, but rather…. it’s about celebrating the birth and existence of my sweet husband.

What would I do, who would I be without this guy? Where would we all be without his ND fanaticism, his love for male chorale, his giddyness upon seeing all things mechanical, his disturbing love for grammer (ha… gotcha, honey) grammAr, his work ethic, his artistic talent, his left cheek dimple, his kindness and patience to strangers, and his incredible loyalty and love for his friends and family.

Man, I love this guy. And I know I’m not the only one. Matt, Happy Birthday best friend. I’m so glad you were born. I’m so glad you are in my life. Thank you for being you. Hope today is extra special.
