The Boxer

The Blue and Gold game is still a month away, but who can help but think about Notre Dame football constantly? To whet your appetites, here’s an article about a boxing match involving ND safety and punt returner, Tom Zbikowski. If you check out the video at that link, you’ll see that Tom enters the ring behind a bagpiper and wears Irish green trunks.

Some might worry about a kid boxing in the off-season to stay in shape. You tend to worry a little less, though, when Tom drops his opponent in the second round.

The results are in. We’re having a…

Last Friday we had our 20 week ultrasound for baby G2. We haven’t decided if we want to know the sex or not so had the ultrasound tech put the results in this brown envelope. Surprisingly, we’ve actually made it almost 4 days without looking. We’ll see how long it takes before one of us has to peek. I still go back and forth every hour: how many surprises do you have in this life? vs. wouldn’t it be nice to know so that you could pick a name and start bonding with little jr.? What do YOU think? Should we open it?

Justin - Don't look.

Boy, girl…what if it's a third option, like "monkey"?

Then you'll just be disappointed.

Although…you would know how to decorate.

So, go for it!

The Gulde Gang - Joey & Jacki were surprises…Jeff would probably tell you that introducing the babies for the first time and waiting in anticipation was definitely a highlight in our lives. My vote is burn the envelope. I know it's old-school…perhaps I'm aging myself:) love, dg

Anonymous - Open it, please…open it for your favorite sister (you know who)…

March 23, 2006 - 10:16 pm

Steve - Don't open it! Drive everyone crazy until the day comes. We had fun trying to guess what we were having and then we were overjoyed by our surprise. In fact, our number 2 is due at the end of May and we are doing the surprise thing all over again.
Burn the envelope before the temptation gets to great!
Just have Matt run out and tell everyone, "It's a baby," then run back in. That's what I did…and our family thought it was funny…well most of them did!

Went to the Zoo with Ellie!

I love the Zoo!
Originally uploaded by The Gulde Family.

This past Sunday we went to the zoo with Francis’s good friend Ellie. Ellie’s mommy is about to have baby #2 and is on bedrest. ;( So we kidnapped Ellie to give mom and dad some needed time off. I can’t speak for Matt, but I can tell you I was secretly a little nervous about taking care of two little ones at the same time. What I didn’t expect is that it would be so much fun! The girls couldn’t have been better and seemed to really enjoy seeing all the animals and cruising in the wagon together. We heard every imaginable animal sound between the two of them. They are experts when it comes to wildcats. The favorite part I think for Ellie was getting a hotdog for lunch! Francis of course focused her attention more on the french fries.

Anna is shaving her head!

My 10 year old niece Anna is raising money for chldren’s cancer research by shaving her head next weekend. One of her classmates, Fletcher, is a cancer patient, and Anna shaved her head in solidarity last year. She’s decided to do it again this year, and this time raise some money.

As you can probably guess, I couldn’t be more proud of her. She is such a cool girl. I could learn a thing or two from her. 🙂

Here’s her web page if you’re interested in throwing twenty bucks into the pot. It’s a great cause and it would be fun to help her reach her goal:

im - Stating the obvious here, but I do want you to know that this is a great idea and I am proud of your niece for doing this! I'm happy to support her, and those looking for a cure to cancer. So thanks for putting up the post and the link. Will Matt be shaving his head too for some solidarity?

103º and 101º

Sick Day at the Guldes
Originally uploaded by The Gulde Family.

Whatever you do, don’t come over to our house today. This morning Matt woke up with a 103º temperature and Francis woke up with a 101º. Currently, at 4:30pm, they both are at 102º. As a hilarious sidenote, I am suffering from horrible pregnant heartburn and as I was leaving the house to make a CVS run for orange juice and medicine, Scout threw up 3 times at my feet. So, enter if you dare, but… I wouldn’t dare.

donr - sal – i was sick two weeks ago with the worst sore throat ever. the weekend before it struck rosa jane spent two days fishing in the back of my throat with her little hands (yeah, she's at that age). so she, of course, got sick a week later. awful congestion, sneezing, tiny little coughs. and kb came down with the same razors-in-the-throat thing late last week. she was down for the weekend. she tried to be kb, but it didn't really work. and who can take issue? after a high fever on saturday night, and donr sleeping next to the baby's crib out of concern for the high fever, rj woke sunday much better. and kb worse. i'm dying to get both my girls back, hale and hearty…
