As Matt said, I spent the weekend in KY with some old friends. It was a great weekend full of A LOT of girl talk. My hat’s off to Mick, Lea’s husband, for putting up with us. We had so much fun catching up and talking about being moms and wives. Click the pic to see more of our fun! ๐
Sally and Francis were in Louisville this weekend with our friend Becca (Petersen) Brown. Here’s a small-world story for you: Sally went to junior high school in Panama because her dad was a U.S. Army doctor stationed down there. Becca grew up in Panama as part of the non-military American contingent there. Becca and Sally went to the same junior high at the same time, but don’t remember each other from that time. Fast forward to college: Becca left Panama and went to Notre Dame, where she and I didn’t get to know each other. She did, though, meet and eventually marry my post-law-school roommate Ryan Brown. When Sally and I started dating, Becca, Ryan, and I realized that Sally and Becca had gone to the same school in Panama at the same time. They soon discovered that they had several mutual friends. One of those mutual friends lives in Louisville. That’s why Becca and Sally were there this weekend. So Scout and I had a boys’ weekend. Here’s what we did: * Got Scout some vaccinations and a heartworm test; It was a good weekend, but we miss our girls. Maybe it’s because I’m pregnant and hormonal, but I find myself a little teary eyed these days as I realize how fast my little girl is growing up. She’s at an age where so much is changing everyday. She’s walking and talking and just all around blowing my mind with the things she can do and understand. It sounds so trite, but it’s true…they grow up so fast. We went to the Oak Park conservatory the other day and she loved it. It was so nice to be able to take off our coats and pretend we were outside for an hour. In any case, it was all I could do to wrangle her up! She was walking a million miles a minute in every direction. This is a little movie from my perspective as I watch her grow everyday. I find myself so proud and also a little sad that I can’t push rewind sometimes and see her grow up all over again.

OMG, I am crying and it is only 7:30 am, what a way to start the day. I don't even want to think about my little Thomas walking yet. Also, I love that song, who is it?

๐ It makes me cry too. The artist's name is Sara Groves and it's off her CD called "Station Wagon." I think the only place to buy it is on her website: http://www.saragroves.com It's definitely worth the purchase. The whole CD is great.

that brought back some fun memories and lots of smiles. i hope we can see you guys soon. we miss you so much. give that big girl a hug for me. love you! After we went to the zoo on Saturday, and after a nap, Francis came out to check out the progress on her chairs. As you can see, she thought I looked funny in my safety glasses. I took some measurements, so I think the chairs will fit her nicely. There are a couple of good shots of the chair that I’m using as a model for Francis’s chairs. The Roedners have already placed an order for at least one chair, but I would advise them to wait and see how mine turns out before making any down payments. Having a workshop is fun.

Great photo set. Especially nice job, Sally, on that fast-frame action when Francy was taking off those glasses that she just loves. Good luck with the chair Matt! Saturday morning, we spent a couple of hours at the zoo. It was a little too cold to walk around and see all of the big animals, so we enjoyed the Hamill Family Play Zoo at Brookfield. Francis looked at the lemurs, got her face painted like a lion, dressed up like a zookeeper, and watered the flowers. It was a great time. Francis knows the trademark sounds of several animals: Lions/tigers (“rarrr!”); cows (“mooo!”); snakes (“sssss!”); horses (exhaling with flapping lips); monkeys (“ooo-ooo, eee-eee”); and cars (beep-beep!).

Michael - this unbelievable series of connections need to go down in a record book some where
The Olson Family - Seems a little like an unproductive weekend to me. See, you need the girls around to motivate you. Not really. Glad you were able to cut out the pieces for your nephew David's new chairs that you are going to build and have ready by June, 10th, his birthday. Love you brother. Your sis.
