Happy Easter!

This year we dyed brown eggs instead of white, and they turned out so beautiful. I laughed out loud when I found myself looking up “How To Boil Eggs” in the “Joy Of Cooking.” What does that say about me? I’d like to think it just means I don’t eat hard boiled eggs, but I’m afraid it might be more telling. Regardless, we had a great time! The baskets have been stuffed, the eggs are hidden, and I’m off to bed. Happy Easter!

Glassy Eyes

The other night, Sally and I went out to eat with our friends Brian and Christine.  I was complaining that I had broken my glasses earlier that evening, and Brian told me about a blog called Glassy Eyes, where a guy named Ira has collected a lot of resources for buying glasses online.

I visited the optometrist, and instead of buying his ridiculously marked up lenses and frames, I got my prescription (including pupilary distance) and walked out.  Then, browsing online, I used helpful Glassy-Eyes tips like this one:

If you’re looking for something new, find a pair you like at the store and write down the measurements from the frame . . . . the measurements are typically stamped inside the temple and/or inside the bridge.

Measurements in hand, I picked out some frames that I liked at 39dollarglasses.com, and $36 later (there was a 10% discount for Glassy Eyes referrals), I’m expecting my new glasses in the mail next week. I’ll post the results, good or bad, and to repeat: that’s $36 total: lenses, frames, and shipping.

Even if my cheapo glasses end up looking stupid, sites like Glassy Eyes are why the Internet is wonderful. Take, for example, Josh Clark, the guy who helped Sally get her (nearly) free MacBook Pro. Clark figured out the free Mac deal for himself, and then posted detailed instructions so others could do it too. Within weeks, a whole community sprang up on his message boards, the collective knowledge of which had the single aim of getting people free computers. Josh is now, worldwide, the “free mac guy.”  What’s your niche?

Fulmer Fam - Oh no, I am nicheless, what will I do, could I be the girl without a niche niche? Just wondering it is late after all. The Easter Bunny never sleeps.

She did it!

After about an hour of contractions she pushed for 6 minutes and “baby N” arrived! SIX MINUTES… that’s no typo. And did I mention she did it natural. Amazing and…beautiful. Thank you guys for letting me be apart of such a special moment. I will never forget it.

"Emergency" Maternity Shoot

I got an “emergency” maternity shoot call from a dear friend of mine about 10am this morning. She told me that she was headed to the hospital at 3pm today to be induced so it was now or never for belly shots! This is her 3rd (and likely last baby) and she still hadn’t had a professional maternity shoot! So I loaded up my camera bag and headed to her house. No woman should go without maternity shots, ladies! I’ve also heard women say they’re “too big.” They wished they had had them taken when they were 7-8 months prego. Well, this is about as late in your pregnancy as you can get – and look at how beautiful she is. Seriously, isn’t she glowing. I’m heading to the hospital this evening and hoping to document the birth as well – sort of a “day in the life of” shoot. Very exciting… I love newborns…

Jesus in the Door

It’s another miracle! After living under His loving gaze for years, New Jersey couple Wendy and Jerry finally recognized the image of Jesus in the wood grain of their closet door. They’re sharing the discovery and their interpretation of the message that God is sending to us:

“The door and pictures of it should not be considered or used as an idol, but rather thought of as a means of contact by God and His demonstration that He is alive and well and watching over all of us.”

Thanks, Wendy and Jerry. With jesus there watching over you, maybe there’s hope for us all.

See our previous coverage of miraculous appearances.

Thanks, Michael, for pointing this out.
