Almost to the finish line!

Almost to the finish line!

There is no better test of physical fitness than ice-skating while carrying (from a crouch position) a forty pound sack of potatoes wearing ice skates. I failed; one lap, and I was ready to call it a day. Fortunately, Francis was also finished, and I got to rest.

Though it was only one lap (during which her skates rarely touched the ice), she still talks about it. I have no doubt that she’ll try it again, one lap at a time.

We had a similar experience sledding today. Francis was excited about going, but was ready to go home after one trip down the hill.

Drew, Amber and Megan - We feel your pain Matt. I am laughing so hard right now! We decided to have a skating party for Megan this year for her 6th birthday. Andrew spent the afternoon doing the same at the skating rink! I was smart enough not to put skates on so I was "helpless" all I could do was laugh.

Fulmer Fam - Olympic material, I say.

Baby Fever

Baby Ruthie

We’re not expecting, or even contemplating, a third child — but we have been getting phone calls every other day with exciting news from people we love. No fewer than five of our closest friends (hey, just because we don’t call doesn’t mean we’re not close) have had babies in the last month.

These feet belong to Ruthie Donoghue. I took this picture while Matt drove around Prentice Women’s Hospital with a crying George. Not pictured, but held in our hearts are Elise Babka, Montana Peppard, Bria Lindblade, and Ashton Smedley.

Grow up right, kids. And get some sleep, parents.

Merry Christmas – Take Lots of Pictures!

This was my family’s Christmas card this year. The inside read: “Happy Holidays! Hold your loved ones close.”
Due to the overwhelming response to our card, I’ll be offering this as a Christmas card package next year. It’s the perfect solution for families because it’s so darn hard to get a group shot of everybody smiling. This allows you to pick the best of each individual. And not to mention, it just looks cool.

Multitrack A Capella

A while back, I posted the feeble results of my efforts at mixing my voice against itself. I would rather you all forget about that, and imagine it was in some way comparable to this. Here are four guys from Sweden, New Zealand, USA, and Canada who have never met in person, and yet have been engaged in a video conversation on YouTube. They’ve been recording a capella “tags” – the vocally acrobatic flourishes within barbershop songs – using a single voice dubbed over itself. Those results are amazing, especially the Scarborough Fair eight-part tag embedded below. The video above is the first time I’ve noticed collaboration among these talented guys.

Fulmer Fam - Hahaha, I was just going to jot down the exact same thing as Kristen, so "ditto"

Jordan Eldredge - I listened to your "feeble" results and was quite impressed. I have been working on multitracking recently, and singing in tune is incredibly difficult! If you get the time, you should take a stab at a barbershop tag. A quick google for barbershop tag .pdf will turn up a whole free book of them! Let me know if you get around to it, I would love to hear.
