MOVIE: It’s all fun and games until…

Francis dumped the contents of our dry cleaning laundry bag and was having the time of her life playing in it this morning. Everything was happy and fun until…

Oh, and as a special sidenote, I got a call for “Rob” at 12:24am this morning. Gotta love it.

katherine petillo - this one got an audible gasp out of me. must be the mom in me. it happens all the time, but you hate to see it.

July 30, 2007 - 6:11 pm

Kristen - I agree with Kat. I totally saw it coming and was too late to catch Georgie, too.

July 31, 2007 - 6:08 am

Joan - Poor Georgie! Watch for flying feet ! Love you ! From Grammie.

Finished Kitchen

There have been two kitchens under construction around here lately. Here is the smaller one; it is finished.

Since you last saw this kitchen, I’ve added a plywood back, brass faucet (see inset a), steel-grate oven shelf (b), knobs (c), black grip-tape burners (d), a shelf in the left cabinet, and a few coats of paint and varnish.

This was so much fun to build, and I can only hope that Francis has not outgrown playing with toy kitchens in the time it took to build it.

July 27, 2007 - 5:47 am

Sally - Well, it's MOSTLY finished. Now I have to make a little curtain for her window. ๐Ÿ˜‰

July 27, 2007 - 12:20 pm

Kristen - wow, that is super duper cute!

let's just hope francis will actually play with it now, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

July 27, 2007 - 1:36 pm

Sally - Oh, no worries… that girl LOVES to play with the kitchen. In fact, she woke up an hour ago and hasn't left it yet. Even Georgie loves it!

MOVIE: Watch Out Charlotte!

This morning I had the pleasure of babysitting cutie-pants Charlotte. She is one of Francis’s best friends. We did it all. We played doctor, ate goldfish, drew on the chalkboard, rode our horse porch swing, and buckled up the babies and headed to our local lunch spot, The Buzz, for a nice big plate of mac n’ cheese. Thanks for a great day! And Charlotte, Watch Out!
*As a sidenote: As I was doing Francis’s hair in the morning, Charlotte said she wanted her hair done too. No surprise. Pigtails and bows. Aren’t they cute?!

July 26, 2007 - 3:31 pm

Kristen - I'm with Francis. I wanna go very high, too! I love both girls' pigtails. I'll have you know (but not don) that I spent $35 on hairbows this week just so I could put a bow in each pigtail… not just in the middle like I'd been doing… did you see those pictures on the slide? Bree made so much fun of me for that! I take it you're paying too much attention to the camera angle detail to pay attention to just how cute Rosa Jane is these days and what I'm doing with her hair. (she giggles and signs off.)

July 26, 2007 - 3:34 pm

Kristen - Kudos for catching us all up on your blog. You're still focusing too much on Francis. I suspect she's your real favorite.

I'd like to see a spotlight on Georgie for instance.

Also, I like the thumbnail images you picked for the vimeo slideshow. Funny expressions from Francis Pantsis. Now if only I could see more Georgie!!!

I've got a girl for him, remember??

July 26, 2007 - 5:34 pm

Sally - Point well taken. It's so easy to focus in on her because she's talking and walking. ๐Ÿ˜‰

From here on out… I'm a changed blogger mom.

And yes, I DID notice the bow in the middle of RJ's head… but unlike Bree, I thought it was cute. What does Bree know? ๐Ÿ˜‰

However, $35? Wew, girlfriend, go to Claires!

Kissin’ Cubbies

A couple of months ago, Matt came home with two bleacher seat tickets to the Cubs game today. We totally forgot all about it until yesterday and had to scramble like crazy to find a sitter. The good news: we found a great one. The bad news: she didn’t come cheap.

Nevermind the $70 on sitting and the cubbies lost. I spent an afternoon with my boyfriend and I felt like kissin’.

Steve and Amy Lou - awwwww, you guys are so cute!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Francis

Francis’s 3rd Birthday
Originally uploaded by The Gulde Family.

Last weekend we celebrated Francis’s 3rd birthday. It sounds so darn cliche, but geez… they grow up so fast. She is so smart and so sweet. Her favorite color is blue (and has informed me that George’s is green), she can count to 16-ish, she absolutely loves books, going to the pool, riding her bike, coloring on the sidewalk and watching movies (current fav: Sound of Music). Her favorite food is steak. Her favorite drink is milk.

After she wakes up in the morning she reads quietly in her bed, and later in the afternoon when she wants to avoid naptime, she says “Do you think maybe we could watch a little bit of TV and snuggle wuggle on the couch?” (she knows I can’t say no to that) And today when I asked her if she needed to go pee-pee she said, “No, do you?” She’s just fun.

For about a month leading up to her birthday she made it very clear that she wanted a tiger cake. She said “Mommy gets a lion cake, I want a tiger cake and Georgie gets an elephant cake.” That is, until the day before. She had a quick change of heart and decided she wanted a Nemo cake – and to be totally honest, I was pretty bummed. I really didn’t want her to want a commercial character thingy, but at the end of the day, I had a fun time making it and when she saw it for the first time, I got over my consumerism hang ups. She loved it and that is all that matters to me. There is nothing better than the jaw dropping gasp of your 3 year old daughter.

Francis, I love you and am so proud you. I am so blessed to be your mommy. It breaks my heart that you’ll never be 2 again, but I know year 3 has great things in store for us.

p.s. thanks to Uncle Jeff and Aunt Denise for the bike! She was absolutely out of her mind excited and hasn’t gone a day without riding her bike around the block since.

katherine petillo - I love you Francis! and I love the Nemo cake. I love that it was made by Sally. The Swedish fish were a nice touch! Hope to see you soon.

Kristen - Happy Birthday, Francis! Thanks to your mommy, I feel like I know you! And if you ever come stay with me I'll know just what to feed you! Pupcakes and steak!
