Georgie’s New Chair

It’s a wonderful thing to have a handy husband. Not only do I benefit from having custom built closets, but the kids are beginning to stockpile quite a few heirlooms. Matt is finishing up an adorable little kitchen for Francis and has also made a great table and chairs set. This past weekend, I said, “Matt, I’d really love to have a little chair with arms for George so he doesn’t tip over.” And a few hours later, he came in from the garage with this. It’s perfect. I love it and of course, Georgie does too. Good job sweet husband.

We celebrated our nation’s birthday with a parade, a trip to the park, and then barbecued ribs with our next-door neighbors. It doesn’t get any more American than that. Grandma Carns helped us get into the holiday spirit with patriotic gifts (notice Francis’s hat and purse in the pictures).

At the parade, we saw the greatest entry of any parade since the dawn of parading: this guy. He stood in the back of his cabriolet, guitar in hand and amp plugged in, thrashing the Oak Park parade all the way up Ridgeland Ave.

Sally - A new goal for the Gulde famly is to be in the parade next year. Who wouldn't be inspired by the dude in the Rabbit? Any ideas on what our float should be?

Kristen - I think you could be the "all american family" just load up your mini van, dvd a-playing, bedecked with balloons. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fulmer Fam - I second Kristen, but add a little shoe polish to the windows and some face paint.

Sally - DVD? we don't have those silly screens in our minivan. Although, THAT would be totally American. I do have a 6 CD changer. What should I put in there?

Kristen - Redneck american music: Alabama's CHEAP SEATS and other stuff that I can't think of right now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sweet Francis in her underpants w/ tiny gorilla.

I’ve been working on potty training a little more these days. The preschool mandatory potty training clock is ticking. The funny thing is that I know Francis is capable of doing it. She’s at a stage where she’ll tell me when she has to go or if she wants me to change her diaper, but she still has no interest in going in the actual potty. I’ll say “Francis, do you want to use the potty?” and she says “no, sank you Mommy.” So we’ll see. Roxanne, her daycare provider, is going on vacation for two weeks in the middle of July so I’m thinking this will be the perfect time for Gulde Potty Training Boot Camp.

Dear Diary,

Is there anything more annoying than a little brother getting into your stuff? Worse, he puts everything in his mouth, so when I do get it back, it’s chewed. Don’t get me wrong, I love George. I just wish he’d stay out of my stuff.

Love,

Francis

Me. I was standing at the kitchen counter trying to check email when out of the corner of my eye I saw a rolling pin in mid air…I leapt down to catch it just a second too late. Sorry Georgie.

Matt - In fairness, George inflicted this wound on himself. Your entry is a little ambiguous on what caused the rolling pin to fall. George was exploring the cabinets, so it's not like the pin fell from counter-height.

Sally - I appreciate your clarification. Yes, he pulled the pin out of the cabinet and then it fell on his toe. Frankly, he deserves it for being such a snoop.
