Weeping Statue

WKMG in Orlando reports that a statue of Mary is weeping.

A marble reproduction of Michelangelo’s Pieta, the statue was recently imported into the United States for sale. Sometime after entering the country, she began to shed mysterious and possibly miraculous black tears.

“. . . it’s kind of unusual because it does appear to be coming from the inside,” Castle Designs representative Chris Wilson said.

The Olson Family - Dude, where DO you find these things?

First Trip to the Hospital

For the last eight and a half months, George has been waging war with the forces of gravity. This afternoon was the first time gravity struck a decisive blow. He was just trucking around the coffee table, and lost grip coming around the end. The glass corner knocked one of his teeth askew and split his gum.

There was a lot of blood and a very loose tooth, and there just happens to be a hospital in Chicago with a pediatric dentist on call, so we took him in. X-rays gave reason for optimism, because the root is still intact. He’s not out of the woods, though: he could end up with a grey tooth or a tooth that needs to be pulled. At the very least, George is going to have a loose, goofy-looking front tooth for a few weeks.
Many thanks to our neighbor Maureen, who swept in to watch Francis while we were gone. We knew Francis was in good hands when Maureen pulled out the yogurt. Suddenly, Francis didn’t mind our leaving so much.

Kristen - Whew-EE! Never a dull moment in the Gulde household. I'm glad it was just a tooth at stake. Coulda been an eye with a BB gun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sending lots of love & patience your way!

chacha - Poor Georgie, and poor Sally and Matt! Glad to hear his pearly whites are ok for now. Of course, still a ways to go until his teeth are out of danger (I lost my front two teeth to the gym floor in fifth grade).

Lea Parrott - Hey Sally sorry to hear about Georgie!

Here’s us at a stoplight on our way to Target the other day. Francis just cracks me up. She likes to sing and make up songs while we drive…

Matt - I love the action just after the 50-second mark.

Kristen - I'm stumped on the tune. But still, there's lots I love about this video. The best part was at the end when she lays back to say "I'm done" with her bodylanguage, however she's peeking out the corner of her eyes, which says, "don't ever stop filming me, mom. I'm cute, Mom. Really, really cute."

MOVIE: Happy Tapping with Francis

Zoo Tapping on Vimeo

We bought Francis some tap shoes a couple of weeks ago and she absolutely loves them. The shoes are on the short list of things that have changed my life as a parent. We went to the zoo last week and she insisted on wearing them. Initially, I thought this was a bad idea… some of you know that tap shoes can be a little “slick” and so when she’s wearing them, I find myself peeling a sad little monkey off the ground every 15 mintues. However, I soon realized that the little extra drama might be worth it. We happened upon a record breaking day of attendance at the zoo and lucky for me, I knew where Francis was at all times. I would find myself having to turn around and not have her in my eyesight for whatever reason, but no worries. I could here little Francy tap tapping right behind me.

This clip is her tapping on the elephant scale in the Pachyderm house at Brookfield Zoo.
p.s. Brace yourself, summer is coming and you will be overwhelmed with zoo photos and footage.

The Gulde Gang - A tip from someone that's been there…put a piece of gray tape on the bottom of the shoe. Solves the "slick" issue (I can't take credit for this one…the tap teacher taught me this). Like we need more drama as the mothers of little girls:) love, dg

Looks like you have a future Highstepper, Sally.
