George had his two month check up yesterday and we got the thumbs up from Dr. Goldstein. George is apparently in the 50% of height and weight. Make no mistake though, height and weight are the only thing that’s average about this little man. He’s been smiling and cooing this week and last night slept a record 7.5 hours straight. I’m beginning to feel a sense of normal I haven’t felt in months. Good job sweet boy.       Yes, George appears to be mostly Carns these days. Those eyes are from my side of the family. That reminds me of something funny. A close friend of mine, a guy I happened to have dated as well, was shocked upon meeting my mother at our college graduation. He pulled me aside and said is that your REAL mother? Confused, I said “yes” and asked what he meant. He apparently had thought for the past 4 years that I was half Vietnamese. He said “but your eyes look so asian!” Mind you, this was a really good friend. Hilarious. Anyway, I have no idea what that means, except to say that he’s definitely mine. And if you check out my dad, grandmother, great grandfather… you’ll see those same Irish/English eyes a’ smiling at ya. Francis has been “babysitting” for me in the late afternoon the last couple of days. She will sit on the couch asking for the “donut pillow” and say “I wanna hold George.” Not only is it adorable, but it’s nice to have her hold him for a few minutes while I clean up the house. I’ve already made it clear to her however that if this is some kind of get rich scheme, it won’t fly around here. I won’t be paying her the standard $10 an hour… it’s her duty as big sister to cuddle with her brother for at least 10 minutes a day. Nevermind this bee costume is sized for a 6-12 month old. We squeezed Miss Francis into some of her favorite costumes for an afternoon of fun and in anticipation for Halloween. As many of you know, Francis was a goat for her first Halloween and last year she was Chewbacca. Any thoughts or suggestions for this year? My dad came to visit the weekend after Tom and Katherine came. It was great to see him and show off little George. Yet again, we went to the zoo. Is anyone tired of seeing photos of the Gulde family at the zoo? |
